Eighteen months ago, ANZ Bank announced a bold plan of change for its Technology division and Australia business to adopt New Ways of Working (NWOW), inspired by the Agile, lean and DevOps movements. Early on, it became apparent that engineering would be one of the corner pieces of this transformation puzzle. Bringing the \u2018dev\u2019 closer to the \u2018ops\u2019 through early adoption of Agile across engineering teams unlocked ANZ\u2019s ability to deliver value to customers with speed and at scale \u2013 a fundamental part of ANZ\u2019s NWOW success.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jez Humble is an author, speaker, CTO at DevOps Research and Assessment LLC, and a lecturer at UC Berkeley.<\/span><\/p>

He is the co-author of <\/span>Continuous Delivery<\/span><\/i>, the Jolt Award-winning book in Martin Fowler's signature series, as well as the books <\/span>Lean Enterprise<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>The DevOps Handbook<\/span><\/i>. Jez has spent his career tinkering with code, infrastructure, and product development and consulting in companies of varying sizes across three continents, most recently working for the US Federal Government at 18F.
