UMBRELLAS
Agile Australia 2010 will boast a really interesting and challenging program. This year, sessions will be grouped under four broad umbrellas and by how much prior knowledge the audience will need, so you can choose the sessions which are most appropriate for you.
The theme of the Agile Australia 2010 Conference is "Delivering Business Value with Agile". Topics will fall under these broad umbrellas:
» Business Value
» Culture, Leadership, People
» Agile Organisation, Process and Practice
» Innovation and Emerging Ideas
|
Umbrella 1 - Business Value
Topics under this umbrella will address how to create business value using Agile. Sessions will look at the benefits of Agile, how to sell Agile to the business, supporting the user at the conceptual level, creating transparency and value driven development, and incremental funding models to match the Agile process. We would also like to see some sessions directed at how to measure the value and ROI created, how to align IT Investments with business needs, and how Agile can support efficient capital allocation.

Umbrella 2 - Culture, Leadership, People
Transitioning to Agile requires new principles, perspectives, and values. Sessions under this umbrella will address how companies embrace change. We will look at the role of HR and cultural issues surrounding Change Management and Business Transformation. Sessions will also focus on teams exploring issues like reward and recognition, helping leaders lead in an Agile way, empowering teams while maintaining control, what makes a good and effective Agile coach, creating the true cross functional team, and the 'soft issues' that can increase productivity in Agile teams.

Umbrella 3 - Agile Organisation, Process and Practice
How do you do Agile? This umbrella will look at the different flavours of Agile with sessions on making the most of Scrum, Lean and Kanban. The inclusion of user centred design with Agile, scaling Agile to the enterprise level, distributed Agile, Agile for very large programs, Agile and BAU, evolutionary architecture, issues surrounding governance and projects, the End of PMO as Policeman and challenges around Legacy systems, Agile with packaged solutions, farm-out offshore and other partnering models. Real world examples demonstrating best practice will be required.

Umbrella 4 - Innovation and Emerging Ideas
Sessions fitting this umbrella will illuminate new approaches that will make you question your beliefs or inspire you to try something new. Sessions under this umbrella will look at cutting edge technologies, platforms, practices and ideas. We will also have sessions on how Agile and Lean can be used in totally non-software related areas. Sessions under this umbrella will challenge you to think differently and stretch your mind!
