Stream Descriptions

The Agile Australia program will feature FIVE content streams.

APPROACHES

APPROACHES

Chairs: Kim Ballestrin, Chris Chan and Renee Troughton

Approaches are ways of dealing with situations or problems. Whether you strive for agility through disruptive or incremental change, this stream looks in depth at the approaches and practices you can take to succeed in getting results for customers, shareholders and the people that you work with on a day to day basis.

DELIVERY

DELIVERY

Chairs: Scott Shaw, John Smart, Adrian Smith, and Tom Sulston

"We are uncovering better ways of developing software by doing it and helping others do it."-The Agile Manifesto

Software delivery is the raison d'être of Agile methods. Unless we are continuously delivering real value to customers, we cannot describe ourselves as doing, let alone being, Agile.

This stream investigates modern software techniques that assist Agile teams to respond to change and deliver value. It looks at the technical tools and practices that help teams to achieve this goal - such as NoSQL databases, Behaviour-Driven Development, functional programming and data analytics. Learn about cutting-edge development and test practices, with a focus on automation and continuous delivery.

INDIVIDUALS + INTERACTIONS

INDIVIDUALS + INTERACTIONS

Chairs: Lachlan Heasman and Dipesh Pala

The first value statement in the Agile manifesto is "Individuals and interactions over processes and tools". Half the value statements and most of the principles are about people. This stream is about people; their differences and similarities, how they work together effectively (or not), how we can lead and follow them, and how we can support them.

Explore how Agile-inspired people and companies are creating cultures, nurturing individuals, and building teams (in Australia and across the globe) to create people-oriented organisations. This stream features innovative ideas in addition to tricks, tips, and proven methods that inspire and help people and organisations to 'be Agile' rather than just 'do Agile'.

MEASURE + LEARN

MEASURE + LEARN

Chairs: Stephen Lawrence and Shoaib Shaukat

The fast evolving business landscape puts extra pressure on companies to improve the way they interact with their customers, reach their markets, and run their business operations. This naturally leads to questions: Are we doing the right things at the right time in the right areas? How successful are we really? When will we know we have to change and adapt? How do we know if we have improved? Is this the right opportunity to chase?

To be successful, businesses need to develop appropriate measures, metrics and trend analysis techniques in order make important and far-reaching decisions that are not based on emotional factors and management bias. This stream features learning from experiences of setting up processes around benchmarking or measuring business assumptions, and using hypotheses in order to learn new insights that help you improve and grow.

THE AGILE ORGANISATION

THE AGILE ORGANISATION

Chairs: Nish Mahanty and Sandy Mamoli

This stream answers questions such as how to organise, adopt and scale "Agile" for portfolio management, enterprise architecture, organisational strategy, business planning, budgeting and governance.
