Lightning talk Learning to solve the Rubik's Cube helped me understand how people learn and adapt to change

Mia Horrigan has been an Agile coach for over 10 years and found teams struggling to learn new capabilities and skills and adapt to change. Recently, Mia was in the learner’s shoes and it was uncomfortable. You see, on the weekends, she is a Visually Impaired (Blind) Person’s Running Guide for Achilles International at #parkrun, but for the last two months the roles have been reversed and her blind runner, Leonie, has been teaching her how to solve the Rubik’s Cube.

Leonie uses a tactile cube, which Mia found fascinating. Learning a new skill was hard but Leonie was so patient and a great teacher. Mia has learnt that her spatial awareness isn’t great.

This experience has given Mia great insights into how people learn and adapt that can be applied to her role as an Agile trainer and coach.
