Government agility unleashed – Making empathy a priority

This talk will introduce a new way of balancing what really matters by applying multiple perspectives from a business lens; taking into account the needs and wants (empathy) of initiative owners to navigate the challenges of prioritising the right work is done, at the right time, in the public sector.

You’ll hear how the introduction of a structured prioritisation model enabled greater collaboration and conversation in Government – which is a reflection of the Agile journey in a large Government agency, faced with the challenges and successes experienced on a transformational journey that includes several different agencies.

The model amalgamates key aspects of two of the most popular prioritisation processes used in large organisations, refined to meet the requirements of Government. Understanding that emotional drivers often lead the prioritisation process is a major consideration behind how the model is applied and used.

Come along to hear the lessons learnt to better manage competing priorities across a huge agency and focus on the right outcomes by putting customers and your people first.

Learning outcomes:

  • How to navigate the conflicting priorities across complex stakeholder groups with our value prioritisation model;
  • How to combat rigid public sector process and collaborative conversations and understanding to achieve the best outcomes for our customers;
  • Bridging the gap between Government strategy and team empowerment.
