A holistic overview of Product Management.

Through exercises and lively discussion, you’ll leave this workshop with a solid overview of the product management lifecycle, from the formation of an idea through to developing a go-to-market strategy and launching it into the market. We’ll unpack product management's relationship to Agile practices (e.g. Scrum), and the never-ending challenge of project management being confused with product management. We’ll take a look at how Product Owners and Product Managers work together, what great product management is and what great product teams should be doing.

Who’s this for?
Whilst this is great for Product Managers, this workshop is for anyone that is either on a product team or interacts with a product team. You might be a product owner, an engineer, a delivery manager, BA, UX designer, product marketer, QA or a business subject-matter expert. You may also be someone who’s considering a transition to product management.

For those of you who feel that all you do is software delivery (outputs), this workshop will show the full potential of great product management (outcomes).

Half-dayProduct Strategy 101

with Sandra Davey, Product Consultant & Coach & Brendan Marsh, Agile, Product & Organisational Coach, Organa

Without a strategy, the product roadmap is just a wishlist.

You’ve mastered Agile delivery, maybe even some product discovery techniques for validating your assumptions and testing hypotheses. But how do you know which product problems or opportunities are the most important to prioritise? You might have a vision for the product, but what is your strategy for getting there? You might argue that you have a product roadmap, but there is an important layer between your company goals and your product roadmap that should inform your decision making process - a Product Strategy.

Product strategy is the glue that helps you decide which problems to focus on, the bridge that connects the product roadmap to the company’s strategy or goals.

Come experience the creation of a product strategy. In this highly interactive workshop, you’ll not only learn the basics of product strategy, but we’ll practice the step by step process to create one, based on either an idea you have or your own company’s product.

Who’s this for?
Product Leaders (Directors, CPO, etc), Product Owners, Product Strategists, Product Managers, Product Marketers, UX or research specialists, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Business Subject Matter Experts in product teams, or anyone aspiring to these roles.

There is no formal training on leadership and people skills when you embark on becoming a software engineer. At a senior level, these skills are necessary to lead healthy and successful teams that are primed for growth.

Leadership consists of established best practices that can be learned by all and there is a strong demand for capable and confident engineering leaders, from small startup companies to well-established firms.

This workshop will equip you with the tools, knowledge, and fundamental leadership skills you can use immediately.

Join this workshop to learn:

  • About different leadership styles and team culture
  • How to practice feedback and difficult conversations

Dr Polly McGee

Full-dayHuman Scale Leadership

with Dr. Polly McGee, Leadership Coach, Author, Speaker, Strategist
This is a one size-fits-one, interactive strengths-based leadership intervention, acknowledging each person's unique capacities and experiences.

The focus of this workshop is on growing personal agency, accountability and autonomy to lead with agility from all parts of values based organisations.

Human scale is the set of physical qualities and quantities of information characterising the whole human: its motor, sensory, and mental capabilities and how humans interact with their world and all its elements.

Human scale leadership takes this idea of what it is to experience the world at human scale, and the individual factors that build our response to the world, the other humans and systems in it to create a unique approach to leadership and self-awareness.

Across six interactive learning experiences, human scale leadership training draws from the science of safety, trauma, neuroception, felt sense, and elements of contemporary person-centred leadership theory. Using a trauma informed lens, it activates a visceral experience of leadership that allows us to understand our own scale, the scale of those we lead and the organisations we are situated within.

Participants will:

  • Explore their personal leadership style
  • Understand how that has been shaped through lived experiences
  • Look at their strengths and barriers
  • Understand the neurobiology of their autonomic nervous system and how it relates to the way they lead people
  • Practice self regulation in challenging conversations
  • Gain tools to live their lives wholeheartedly in all arenas.
